Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), including Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Herbal Medicine, is a comprehensive natural health care system that has been used in Asia for thousands of years. It is currently practiced all over the world to treat a wide variety of symptoms and conditions. Over the last few decades there has been a significant rise in the practice and use of TCM and Eastern Medicine (EM) in North America. As these practices proliferate through the mainstream, the demand for educated and responsible practitioners continues to increase. Students of Eight Branches Academy will participate in a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum that covers all the fundamentals of TCM and the range of Eastern Medicine. Students will graduate with real-world professional skills that prepare them to treat a broad patient base – including people who have little or no prior exposure to Eastern Medicine or its methodologies – so that Eastern Medicine can continue to grow in reputation and gain widespread acceptance.
Students of Eight Branches Academy will also be introduced to the practice of various Taoist arts, including Tao Yin, Tai Qi and Qi Gong. This emphasis on personal self-care is a cornerstone of the Eight Branches ideology, as graduates are thus equipped with the necessary skills to maintain a professional practice upon completion, while incorporating personal habits that sustain self-health. Graduates of Eight Branches are prepared academically to successfully complete board regulatory examinations in Canada and the United States.
