Meditation for Engaging Our Lives: Tuesdays 6:30-8pm Suggested Fee $1o, plus Dana to teacher
Evening classes include: sitting and walking meditation rooted in Zen and mindfulness traditions, dharma talk by Andrew or guest teachers, time for group discussion and mindful listening practices. Great benefits develop by practicing together in community. Not only does it strengthen our individual peace, it helps us to engage in our world with greater compassion. Please join us often. Meditation instructions for beginners are given before each class. Plan to arrive at 6:30pm to prepare your seat, and/or hear meditation instructions; beginners and first timers, please arrive at 6:25pm. First sitting begins at 6:45pm, please no late arrivals and always enter the space in silence. Dharma talks will focus on bringing practice, living, and actions together that assist us in serving both the moment and the world for the benefit of all. Andrew Blake is a practicing psychotherapist, Buddhist chaplain, and meditation teacher. He co-founded the Gitche M’Qua Centre for Healing & Dying with his wife Angie, where they focus on the integration of mindfulness and compassion in living and at End-of-Life. Andrew has strong roots in Zen(Upaya Zen Centre) and Tibetan traditions, as well as Cherokee. He also teaches at style of qigong, called Sheng Zhen, at Eight Branches on Wednesday mornings. Classes
Eight Branches Healing Arts Centre contains a 700 square foot, ambient studio that hosts a variety of martial arts and exercise classes. These classes emphasize mind-body awareness.
Programs
The Eight Branches Academy of Eastern Medicine offers students a comprehensive education with a firm foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
